Ger van Elk was interviewed in his former studio in Amsterdam by curator Piet de Jonge and conservator Sanneke Stigter on April 4 2003. The interview was part of a large research project on Artist’s Interviews / Artist’s Archives carried out by the Foundation for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (SBMK) in corporation with the Netherlands Institute of Cultural Heritage (ICN). In preparation of the interview art historical research had taken place and information and questions from the participating Dutch museums were gathered. ’The wider the flatter’ was one of the case studies discussed.
