2. The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh (1999)
creator(s) Barbara Sommermeyer (conservator)

The installation was created for a solo exhibition at The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh in 1999 called ’Journey to the Edge of the World’. It was set at the upper gallery and part of the 3 years exhibition project ’Visions for the Future’ presenting young Scottish artists. The catalogue shows several different views of the spacious installation with e.g. a parliament, a cinema and a history section dedicated to Roderick, inhabitant of St. Kilda, who - after having left - came back and changed the way of living on the island tremendously.
It was the time, when the new Scottish Parliament had just reconvened that year, which gave a certain site-specificity to the lay out of the installation at The Fruitmarket Gallery.
