Case reseach ()

Interviews with the artist made it clear that it would be uncorrect to reshow this exact version of 2000 over and over. This Inflight Lounge is actually only one version of the videoteque, an interactive space with videos, coffee, etc. The selection of videos is not stable, nor are all the other elements. This variability is very important and depends as well on historical contexts and current affairs as on the space of the museum, the context of the exhibition or museum policy, ...

The absolute, necessary parameters of the videolounge are:
1/ a space, ressembling an airport lounge with easy chairs or sofa’s
2/ a coffee or tea corner
3/ a reading corner with Inflight Magazines, barf bags, ’Safety on board’-cards, ... It can contain also other literature
4/ television screens with a a selection of videos out of which the visitor can make his choice by a remote control.

Since the variability of the lounge, the name 'Inflight Lounge' is outdated and was replaced by the more general name of the videotheque: Maybe the sky is really green and we're just colorblind.

The artist will remake each new version as a dialogue with the older versions. The focus must be on dialogue and reinventing the debate.

Because of that a list of all the different versions, with photos, maps, etc. was made, in all different museums, galleries, ...

New elements out of current affairs will be mixed with the 'historical' versions of the videotheque. New films can be added to the database, possibly over internet by webstreaming. But also a lecture or a film evening in the museum or elsewhere is a possibility, as an alternative to the lounge.

In the future, when the artist can't be consulted anymore, the museum can make a reconstruction of a 'historical' version combined with or juxtaposed to an own interpretation by the curator of the exhibition. The artist finds it very important that the variability stays alive and sees restoration as a flux.

A difficulty lies in the fact that many videos have rights owned by other artists. They have to be cleared before shown.
