Marcaccio, Fabián (1963)

works and lives in New York

Fabián Marcaccio studied at the University of Philosophy, Rosario de Santa Fe, Argentina. He critically studied classical painting and attempts to dissolve the barrier, based on the bi-dimensionality of the picture grounding and the paint coating. Marcaccio calls the resulting form of painting, which extends into three-dimensional space, ‘paintants’ (painting-mutants). In the late 90’s he created three-dimensional, in part site-specific, architectonic installations, partly with oversized, thickly applied ‘brushstrokes’ (conjectures), which give the observer the impression of an extreme close-up.
