Plessi, Fabrizio (1940)
Reggio Emilia
works and lives in Venice, Cologne, Mallorca

Fabrizio Plessi studied at the Accademia delle belle Arti, Venice. Since 1968 water has been one of the principal motifs in his work. He has returned repeatedly to this element in installations, films, videotapes and performance art. In 1980 Plessi started making large video installations. His works often combine real components with their virtual reproduction in audio-visual media and spans therefore the border between fiction and reality.
Since the early 1970s Fabrizio Plessi’s work has been presented in more than 300 international exhibitions such as the Biennale in Venice and documenta 8 in Kassel. From 1990 to 2000 Plessi taught at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne.
